We found out through our friends at B&T about a book that wants to talk about organizing office spaces and we liked their approach, especially since they seem to be very thorough. In fact, we learned a few things from their condensed presentation we found online, so we thought it might be a good idea to pass the information on.

Of course, every office space is unique and it’s essential that it is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Furthermore, ideally, it should also reflect the unique personality of the company. But there are certain aspects that should be considered before making any other decision.

For instance, the first thing you should think about is whether you only need working spaces. Probably not. Offices usually need to include meeting spaces and support spaces as well.

The decision regarding working space should, of course, be made according to the specifics of the activity. Some businesses need open offices, other companies have to group their employees in shared offices, as teams, but there are also jobs that almost need isolation, so there’s also a need for cubicles sometimes etc. It’s very likely that the perfect solution for most companies is a mix of the above in order to satisfy all the needs that arise from current activities, maybe even remote working stations, for short-term assignments.

Meeting spaces can be meeting rooms, spaces for presentations and so on, or they can be spaces meant to stimulate human interaction. The first category might even be essential for successfully fulfilling work tasks, while the second is important for a pleasant working environment.

Auxiliary spaces are categorized similar to the meeting ones. There are those that host things needed for work activities: maybe an archive room, maybe a room for scanners and other shared tools and so on. But there should also be spaces that facilitate a pleasant experience with the company: a kitchen, a smoking lounge, a break room, a locker room and so on (and let’s nor forget that big companies even have gaming rooms in order to keep their employees relaxed).

We hope we shared useful information and that we gave you a couple of key elements for planning your perfect office. And don’t forget that, no matter how you decide to organize it, we can provide any kind of solution for ergonomic office furniture.
